The Vision

A flexible community destination, not a single-use facility

The precinct is designed so that one piece of ground can carry many kinds of community life — sport during the day, exercise in the early evening, and markets, concerts or outdoor movies on event days.

What the precinct can support

  • Community sport and recreation
  • Children's play
  • Youth football development
  • Adult and teen sport
  • Exercise and wellness programmes
  • Markets and community days
  • Concerts and live performances
  • Outdoor movies
  • School and community events

The primary design principle

Only the elements that must stay in place are permanent. Everything that would block the central space can be removed.

Permanent

  • Children's playground
  • Perimeter landscaping
  • Circulation paths
  • Lighting
  • Covered stage and screen
  • Supporting infrastructure and storage

Removable or demountable

  • Pickleball nets and posts
  • Internal court-divider fencing
  • Basketball hoop
  • Netball post
  • Football goals
  • Ball-retention and divider nets
  • Volleyball net
  • Seating, stalls and event equipment

Why flexibility matters

Space is finite

The community cannot keep adding land, so the same ground must work harder across more hours, more seasons and more age groups.

Needs change

Removable infrastructure means the mix of activities can shift over the years without demolition or rebuilding.

Events fund upkeep

Markets, concerts and outdoor movies bring the community together and create fundraising opportunities that support the precinct.
